Giving Back to Our Community

Paula brings a highly professional level of organization along with a contagious energy as she leads her teams through the process of building homes, and finding greatness through serving others.
— Tym Kemp - Youth Campus Director With A Mission Ensenada, Mexico

I'm grateful for my life in the United States. I've had extraordinary opportunities made possible only with support from many individuals and my past employers. This is why I'm so committed to giving my time to improve others' lives.

I dedicate 20% of my coaching hours to select organizations and individuals, including those who've served our country or who are undergoing difficult situations and lack the financial resources to seek professional help.

Giving Initiatives

BLACKROCK GIVES

While employed at BlackRock, in 2017 I helped launch "BlackRock Gives". This initiative helps fund mission trips for volunteers to build homes for families in Mexico who are living under tarps and plywood. In 2019, I co-led six of these trips with more than 140 volunteers. My leadership role in this effort, combined with coaching and mentoring other employees, led me to be the recipient of two distinctive awards: "The Heart of BlackRock" and "Leaving a Legacy".

TOGETHER2SERVE

In late 2019, no longer an employee at BlackRock, I co-founded with my dear friend Alyssa Thomas "Together2Serve," a non-profit with a mission to inspire other Americans to help others in need. Together2Serve had its first mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico in November 2019. Additional trips will be planned once it is safe to travel again.

AMERICAN CORPORATE PARTNERS (ACP)

Through ACP, I volunteer my time to coach and mentor U.S. military veterans and their spouses to find their next career paths. Veterans often experience financial stress, lack of direction, depression, PTSD and suicide as they try to transition back into civilian life. I'm committed to steering these individuals and families in the right direction — providing them with the support and respect they deserve.

GRAD LIFE CHOICES

Grad Life Choices matches unemployed or underemployed college graduates with experienced life and career coaches who are willing to work on a pro-bono basis. As a volunteer career coach, I support and encourage recent graduates, helping them with career exploration and decision-making, networking, interviewing and job-search strategies.

I worked closely with Paula as a mentor for ACP. Since day 1, Paula showed her complete dedication towards the mentorship. She was extremely organized and went out of her way to help her mentee. With her guidance, her mentee was able to work on his long-term career plan and successfully obtain meaningful employment. I must also note that Paula is extremely passionate about giving back.
